Practical information for schools
- Book at least two weeks in advance of your visit, so that we can prepare everything for you.
- One supervisor per 15 students is required.
- Learn about nature, in nature.
- GaiaZOO offers a unique and stimulating learning environment.
First aid
First aid is present in the park at all times and can be called by GaiaZOO employees if necessary.
Parking for schools is free
The contact person can collect the parking tickets for the cars at the customer service counter (no more than the number of supervisors indicated). The tickets are only valid on the day of the school visit. Parking for coaches is also free.
Frequently asked questions
Can students travel to GaiaZOO independently by public transport?
Yes, you can! The bus stop ‘GaiaZOO’ is located right next to the entrance of GaiaZOO. From Heerlen station, take the bus to Kerkrade Bleijerheide (travel time ± 25 minutes). From Kerkrade station, take the bus to Schinveld (travel time ± 10 minutes). And from Kerkrade or Kerkrade-Chevremont train stations, you can walk to GaiaZOO in ±15 to 20 minutes. Can the (tour) bus remain in the parking lot?
The GaiaZOO parking lot has special parking spaces for (tour) buses. They can park here for free all day. The driver receives a voucher with which he can pick up a packed lunch in the restaurant.
Is there a meeting place for schools in the zoo?
The restaurant is often used as a meeting place. The restaurant is centrally located in the park and is well indicated on the signage. In addition, there is a large terrace where you can have lunch with your school/class.
Do we have to pay an entrance fee for the DinoDome?
No, all playgrounds in GaiaZOO are included in the special school trip rate.
Is it possible to reserve places for our group in or near the restaurant?
GaiaZOO has spacious, shaded terraces where you can enjoy lunch. Unfortunately, it is not possible to reserve specific spots.
